Welcome to the FRIENDS OF KTC MINNEAPOLIS website! FRIENDS’ overriding purpose is to find patronage to insulate the KTC Sangha from situations where lack of money or facilities create obstacles that prevent the accomplishment and preservation, in Minnesota, of the most advanced Tibetan Buddhist meditation practices.

Friends List -- Fall 2006:
- KTC Minneapolis has used the same building for 15 years. It’s bursting at the seams. At this point, the physical building limits the practitioners and community outreach. KTC needs a new home. Our hope is that FRIENDS will be able to add a classic Tibetan Monastic campus to the Twin Cities to meet these needs, with room for resident teacher and staff, visiting teachers, retreat rooms, and Buddhist hospice support for members, patrons, and family. Support for the Tibetan Buddhist way of leaving one’s body is particularly important. No one is more knowledgeable about dying well than Tibetan Buddhists. The Twin Cities does not have this kind of facility and would benefit greatly from the addition.
- FRIENDS wants to be able to provide KTC with financial support for practice retreats of all lengths, including grants for traditional 3 1⁄2 Year retreats which cost more than $17,000 in tuition alone; scholarships for needs-based help with tuition for classes and teachings; and sponsorship money for spiritual practices such as sadhanas for healing and protection.
- KTC’s building maintenance fund needs $6,610.00 after replacing the front sidewalk and putting in railings this summer to provide barrier free access to the front door. FRIENDS would like to pay that off.
- Each year KTC has a short list of needs and significant wants that exceed the operating budget that the members raise and therefore, go unfunded. Friends would like particularly to pick items off this list because of the special encouragement and support this gives to the hard, generally unsung, work being done by the practicing KTC Sangha.
