Welcome!
Welcome to the FRIENDS OF KTC MINNEAPOLIS website! FRIENDS’ overriding purpose is to find patronage to insulate the KTC Sangha from situations where lack of money or facilities create obstacles that prevent the accomplishment and preservation, in Minnesota, of the most advanced Tibetan Buddhist meditation practices.
We hope you will include us in your 2006 charitable giving. To do that right now, click here for a form to print fill out and mail.
On patronage for practitioners...
Sages, mystics, yogis/yoginis, the most accomplished sangha of the Kagyu Lineage, must practice... like a concert pianist must practice... like all master artists must practice... They are the unsurpassed master artists of consciousness.
Consciousness is the ground of all being, the vast spaciousness of extraordinary energy underlying our everyday world. And we are living in a renaissance time characterized by human consciousness waking up to itself. It’s a time of great change, great opportunity. A time when training in the practices of Tibetan Buddhism fits like a glove with what the human race on Earth urgently needs.
What it takes to become an accomplished Kagyu practitioner: compassionate, altruistic heart; ever present intention and action to relieve suffering for all sentient beings; half hour to two hour daily meditation practice; regular group practice; patronage; substantial time in retreat; and long, healthy life. People who devote their life to this kind of practice discipline are fairly rare in our predominantly materialistic culture. However, lots of people are trying meditation these days, for one reason or another, and from them will come more consciousness masters.
In any case, we are not separate from the masters. Nothing is separate. Mind not separate from body. Scientist not separate from experiment. “There is no ‘out there’ out there, independent of what’s going on ‘in here.’” -Fred Alan Wolf, Ph.D. We choose how close we are to the masters and how much we benefit from them. If we don’t practice, we can offer patronage. It is always truly said that the patron who provides for the practitioner’s needs accumulates the same merit as the practitioner.
All donations to FRIENDS OF KTC MINNEAPOLIS are entirely tax deductible. So many people ask for so many things, we greatly appreciate your contribution to FRIENDS. To do that right now, click here for a form to print fill out and mail.
